Yann LeCun invented CNNs and demonstrated them for digit recognition at Bell Labs in the late 1980s. He won the Turing Award alongside Bengio and Hinton in 2018. He leads FAIR, Meta's AI research lab, and is one of AI's most prominent open-source advocates.
